JR: Tell us about yourself, your background and your business.

Lindsey: Kelly and I started flowering together back in 2016 after being introduced through a mutual friend. Prior to that, I was in the floral industry for almost 15 years, working at various flower shops in Calgary and Edmonton. Flowering has always been a creative outlet for me, and I just love working with my hands. Kelly started working at a Calgary shop eight years ago, and has always been inspired by nature in her designs. Our business is based on creating joy for our clients, but it’s also about building a community within the wedding industry.

JR: Your arrangements are absolutely incredible. How did you get started in the floral business?

Lindsey: For me, it started way back in junior high school. My dad is a cabinet worker, and a natural handyman. I think my creativity stems from watching him make furniture with such precision, and wanting to design and create something with my own hands. I began with the intention of pursuing a fashion or interior designing degree, then dabbled with jewelry making and painting but when I got my first job at a flower shop, I switched gears and knew exactly what I wanted to do.

Kelly: My love of flowers began when I was a little girl. During summertime, I would help my Dad in the garden and from a young age I knew that flowers would always be a big part of my life. When I got my first flower shop job back in University, it did not take long for me to realize that being a florist was the path I wanted to pursue.

JR: Obviously you are hired for a lot of weddings! What other types of clients do you work for?

Lindsey: 95% of our clientele is brides and grooms, but from time to time we do design centerpieces for corporate parties. On the rare occasion we will design arrangements for special holidays like Mother’s Day or Christmas.

JR: Are there any new floral/greenery trends we'll see a lot of in 2018?

Kelly: In 2018 we are still going strong with lots of greenery paired with neutral palettes. We are still designing bouquets and centerpieces that are very botanical and organic, which we love, so no complaints here!

JR: Wedding season must be nuts for you. How do you manage?

Kelly: It helps that there are two of us! Honestly, sometimes we are overwhelmed, but we take each project one day at a time, and that works well for us.

JR: What is your favourite part of working in the wedding industry?

Lindsey: 100% the floral design! We’ve also really enjoyed collaborating with other wedding vendors on styled shoots. Some of our best days have been grabbing coffee and chatting with other industry vendors about our favorite weddings, new trends, etc.

JR: Where can we best find you?
